The Recipe Of Paella Is Said To Be A Perfect Union Between Two Cultures From Spain , The Romans, For The Pan And The Arab, For Bringing rice. There Is An Old Story Of How The Moorish Kings' Servants Created Rice Dishes By Mixing The Left-Overs From The Royal Banquets In Large Pots Or Containers To Take Home With Them .It Is Said By Some That That Word Paella Originates From The Arab Word “BAQIYAH” Which Means Left-Overs.The Term Paella Actually Refers To The Pan That It Is Cooked Or Served In. All The Way Back To The Ancient Sanskrit Language The Term Pa Means …To Drink, And The Roman Culture From The Latin Made Words Like Patera, Patina , Patella Which Could Mean A Container For Drinking, Or To Perform Some Other Culinary Things. The Dish Consists Of Rice, Meats And Many Other Things And The Cooking Of This Dish In A Traditional Manner Is On Open Fire.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
1.) 1 tbsp olive oil
2.) 1 onion chopped
3.) 1 tsp each hot smoked paprika and dried thyme
4.) 300g paella or risotto rice
5.) 3 tbsp dry sherry or white wine (optional)
6.) 400g can chopped tomatoes with garlic
7.) 900ml chicken stock
8.) 400g bag frozen seafood mix
9.) juice ½ lemon , other half cut into wedges
10.) handful flat-leaf parsley
, roughly chopped
Method:
Step 1.) Heat One Table-Spoon Of Olive Oil In A Large Frying Pan Or You Can Also Use Wok. Add One Chopped Onion And Soften It For 5 Mins.
Step 2.) Stir In One Table-spoon Of Hot Smoked Paprika, One Table-spoon Dried Thyme And 300g Paella or Risotto Rice, Stir It For One Min, Then Splash In 3 Table-spoon Sherry Or White Wine, If You're Using.
Step 3.) Once It Has Evaporated,Then Stir In A 400g Can Of Chopped Tomatoes With Garlic And 900ml Chicken Stock.
Step 4.) Season And Cook It, Uncovered, For About 15 Mins, Stirring Again And Again Until Rice Is Almost Tender And Gentle And Still Surrounded With Some Liquid.
Step 5.) Stir 400g Of Frozen Seafood Mix Into The Pan And Cover It With A Lid. Cooking Gently for 5 mins, Or Until The Seafood Is Cooked Through And The Rice Is Gentle And Tender.
Step 6.) Squeeze Over The Juice Of ½ Lemon, Scatter With A Handful Of Flat-Leaf Parsley And Serve It With Wedges from the remaining ½ lemon.
